Why should we suffer for TU’s negligence

I have been lately asking myself the following questions: Does TU value the certificates it provide? And, should I take the certificate TU provides seriously???

My experience of going to Balkhu has never been good. Long queues, slow staff, rude behavior, inefficient work etiquette and an unwarranted sense of superiority is all that I have seen over there. One can easily guess the level of inefficiency with a simple fact that TU is the only university in the world with more non-teaching staff than the teaching staff. But recent events make me hate it more than ever.

Like every other student, I got my certificate after completing undergraduate. Alas, but with a spelling error. They got the spelling of ‘Examination’ wrong. And, I was not the only one. But, this was the case for all Computer Engineering graduates at TU (that should be 500+).

So, wrote an application. I was told it would take a month (you are asking yourself “Why do they need a whole month for a minor issue?”). I had to made 3 rounds but every time I was told that corrected copy hadn’t arrived. On my 4th round of to-and-fro, I had to literally threaten the staff and wait for an hour to let him find my certificate from pile. Finally, I had my certificate after 3 months! I sighed with a feeling of GOOD RIDDANCE. But it was not to be. My friend informed that they had messed up “Issued date” this time. The “Issued date” on the certificate is Jan 2009 while we appeared for exam in Mar 2009.Now, is it yet another 3 months and half a dozen rounds??? WHAT THE HELL!

I feel the urge of giving a damn about the certificate. At least, I will avoid another rounds of to-and-fro journey to Balkhu. But, I know I can’t. And, even if I do, I know, many people can’t.

Now, the question is why do we have to suffer the negligence of TU staff. Who pays for rounds and rounds of such errors in printing and proof-reading (not a difficult guess, it is yours and mine money in form of tax that is being used). Who is accountable towards Rs. 1000 that I paid in December but haven’t received correct certificate yet?

Just imagine the plight of out-of-valley students who have to spend 1000s (for traveling, lodging and fooding) to know that their certificate is wrongly printed. And, they will have to make several rounds again (The worst part is witnessing the attitude of superiority by staffs) WHAT THE HELL!!! And, the sad part is you see such plights on every working day round the year.

I know I will have to write another application and request for correction (by the way, I hate the application language that sort of expect you to address the issue as if you are guilty of error on your certificate). I don’t know what option other than suffering I have.
